50 Lessons After 50:

1

Most people are more limited by their fears than their abilities.

Arguably, the second greatest fear of modern humans is looking stupid, and many equate failure with looking stupid. Based on my experience, high achievers dislike looking stupid and certainly fear and loathe failure, but they know that it is inevitable. They know they will, on occasion, look stupid and actually do something or say something stupid butthey soldier on and accept the risk of being embarrassed. They also know that the only way to avoid failing is to do only what is easy.
